Burak Arikan studied Visual Communication Design at Istanbul Bilgi University after completing engineering at Yildiz Technical University and. In 2003 he moved to Baltimore for work. In 2004 he started his master's degree at the MIT Media Laboratory in the Physical Language Workshop led by John Maeda. His current work is focused on building platforms for artists and designers that enable collectivity based on composing distributed electronic objects over the Internet. His work has presented and performed internationally at institutions including Ars Electronica (Linz) and the Venice Biennale and at independent venues. Arikan serves in the advisory boards of Prix Ars Electronica Digital Communities (Linz) and Amber Generative Arts Foundation (Istanbul).
