Hakan Silahsizoglu is a proffesional actor, trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in England. Hakan has worked extensively with Talimhane Theatre and run local/international projects as being the Theatre's international relations contact. Projects include; "Talimhane Youth Theatre" project (project coordinator) supported by the Open Society and "Europe Now" (project coordinator and producer as Turkish partner) which was a colloboration between five European countries supported by EU Culture Programme.
Hakan also run "Tweetakt Childrens and Youth Theatre and Dance Festival"s Turkish leg on behalf of Talimhane Theatre and on a special year of Dutch-Turkish diplomatic relations' 400th Anniversary. The Festival toured to Istanbul, Eskisehir, Bursa, Mardin with three different productions and two workshops for Turkish writers who wants to write plays for kids and youth.
As a freelance actor Hakan has appeared in BBC radio plays as well as TV commercials, TV Films in Turkey. As a freelance translator he has translated three plays from English to Turkish including David Greig's famous play "Europe".
Hakan teaches from time to time at instutions and give classes/lectures about acting and art industry, including Bilgi University in Istanbul. Recently he is interested in emerging Turkish contemporary painters and he manages relations with galleries on the artists' behalf.
