Does pressure from the international community improve or threaten freedom of expression in Turkey? This question is key in the debate that Amnesty International and the Turkije Instituut will organize on 27 May in Amsterdam.
One year after the crackdown on the Gezi Park protests in Istanbul, the prospects of improvements in Turkey's human rights record are bleak. How can we contribute to the protection of human rights in Turkey? How can international pressure ever be effective when the Turkish leadership successfully uses trump cards such as 'foreign conspiracy'? The evening programme will includes national and international speakers who will share their thoughts on these questions.
The event takes place on Tuesday 27 May in Podium Mozaïek, Amsterdam from 20:00 to 21:30. For more information click here.
